American Tribal Style Bellydance is a format for group
improvisation with two or more dancers, and is a blend of Egyptian
bellydance and the folkloric dances of the Middle East and North
Africa, with stylistic influences from Flamenco and Indian Kathak
dance.
Tribal Fusion Bellydance reintegrates the elements of traditional
Bellydance into the stylistic approach of American Tribal Style,
creating a new style for the 21st century. It includes solo dancing
that expresses individual musical interpretation, as well as prop
dances including sword, veil, and candles.
As the emphasis in this dance is one of feminine power, dignity,
strength, mystery, and sensuality, it is a dance form that women (and men) of
all body types and ages can enjoy. Lydia's instruction emphasizes
posture and alignment, spatial awareness, and communication between
dancers, as well as developing stamina, grace, and clarity of
movement and line.
